Slow Shutters

 ND filter fun...

Apparently the Gorge Railroad is closed and the trees are all burned (not this one):

River trail:

This goose was very cooperative while the waterfall behind him (her?) was the experiment:

Who's that ghost?

The river rapids not very rapid:

Cabezon

On a recent trip to find shark's teeth (we found lots), we passed through snow and blue sky.

Huerfano, Coming and Going

The road to Colorado is getting well-worn, but there is usually at least something worth clicking.

Obligatory centered road towards mountains the road won't reach.

Every time we approach Walsenberg, I'm intrigued by this old building - it reminds me of the old Wintucket pumping station somehow. Maybe it's also full of dead birds. Maybe a dad takes his daughter in to the dark, crumbling building to marvel at the mysterious machinery. In any case, I had the time and an interesting sky to stop for.

Wintucket pumping station a few years ago (no idea why they've left it standing):

Roadside Attractions v.2 (Detours)

On a recent drive to Colorado, we found some curious sights...

Detour #1: La Veda, CO. A town where the deer:person ratio is apparently 20:1.

Detour #2: For some reason, both times that we have decided to drive through Alamosa, we encounter unusual and neat events.  The last time, a holiday parade. This weekend, it was ice sculptures and an ice bonfire (pallets stacked inside a huge ice cube):

The Mad Hatter:

The White Rabbit:

Snow Day...

Kicking myself for not going back out last night in the snow to get the white-coated trees, I went exploring early this morning instead and found mostly shapes:

Same raven tree, coming back in the other direction a few minutes more into sunrise...
